Synopsis

Esquipulas Guayabal, a community located just 5 kilometers from the Chichonal volcano, faces the aftermath of the 1982 eruption that caused significant territorial displacement and loss of cultural knowledge. Two visual artists collaborate with a Zoque poet from the community to document the ongoing process of reconstruction. The film presents a sensory ethnography that connects the community's historical experiences with recent volcanic activity, redefining their relationship with the volcano and envisioning a new way of life amidst the remnants of the past.
