Synopsis

In the Late Carboniferous Period, predatory amphibians and giant arthropods dominated the swamps, while ancient seed plants and amniotes began evolving adaptations for drier environments. These adaptations would enable them to thrive on the supercontinent Pangea during the subsequent Permian Period. This episode is part of a six-part series titled "Eons," produced by Complexly for PBS Digital Studios, which explores the evolution of life and the significant events leading to the Permian extinction.
