Synopsis

A young aristocrat dreams of a man one spring afternoon. This dream leads her into a deep love that causes her to fall into melancholy. As her health declines, her love proves stronger than death. She gains the sympathy of the judge of the underworld, allowing her to reunite with her lover and return to life. "The Peony Pavilion," composed in 1598 by Tang Xianzu, is a classic kunqu opera, celebrated for its musical and literary refinement.
