Synopsis

Pripyat, once a thriving city, now lies within the 30-km restricted zone around the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. Following the 1986 disaster, 116,000 residents were evacuated. Four individuals returning to this hazardous area share their daily lives and routines. They navigate the risks of radioactivity and reflect on the psychological effects of living in a place marked by catastrophe. Directed by Nikolaus Geyrhalter, this 1999 documentary captures their stories and the realities of post-disaster existence.
