Synopsis

During a dive in Southern Florida in the spring of 2000, a group of amateur divers encountered an unfamiliar fish. This fish, later identified as the lionfish, had traveled from the Pacific and Indian Oceans to the Atlantic, where it quickly became a dominant predator. By 2009, lionfish reached the coast of Honduras, prompting local authorities to launch campaigns against the invasive species. Biologists Nick Bach and Carl Stanley conduct deep-sea research to understand the lionfish's impact on marine ecosystems and explore potential solutions to mitigate its spread.
