Synopsis

Filmmaker Pearl Gluck, raised in an Orthodox Jewish community in Brooklyn, seeks to reconnect with her roots after years of living a secular life in Manhattan. Her father's wish for her to marry and return to the community prompts Pearl to travel to Hungary in search of a family heirloom-a turn-of-the-century divan once used by esteemed rabbis. Along the way, she meets a diverse array of individuals, including a couch exporter and Hungarian-American matchmakers, who influence her understanding of identity and belonging.
