Synopsis
Noel and Selma opened Bloodroot, the first vegetarian collective restaurant and bookstore in Bridgeport, Connecticut, in the 1970s. Both women left their marriages to embrace their identities as lesbians during the women’s movement. Noel, a former teen model and Playboy bunny, met Selma, a radical feminist, and they bonded over cooking and gardening. Archival footage and clips from The Stepford Wives illustrate the cultural shifts over the last 40 years as they strive to maintain Bloodroot as a gathering place for progressive women.
