Synopsis

At the Paungdaw Oo monastic school near Mandalay, the abbot and teachers discuss the school's child-centred approach to education. Founded in 1993, the school now serves 7,200 students, many of whom are orphans or from disadvantaged families. The teachers, some of whom attended the school themselves, explain how the child-centred approach encourages independent thinking. They also highlight the role of parents and vocational training programs in the school's success, suggesting a model for other schools in Myanmar.
