Synopsis
At the Watoriki Reserve in Roraima, 37 shamans gathered in March 2011 for a unique meeting. Xapiri documents their practices and beliefs related to Yanomami shamanism. The film captures the shamans’ embodiment of male spirits, known as xapiri thëpë, and auxiliary spirits, called xapiri pë. It presents an exchange of visual and cultural understandings between the Yanomami and outside perspectives. The runtime is 54 minutes, and it was released in 2016.
