The Gobi bear, one of the world's rarest animals, is believed to number fewer than 30 individuals in the remote Gobi Desert of Mongolia. Once thought to be a mythical creature, this elusive subspecies of brown bear was recently confirmed by Mongolian scientists when one was captured on a camera trap near the Chinese border. Following this significant sighting, a comprehensive research and conservation program has been initiated to study and protect the Gobi bear and its fragile habitat.
