Remora fishing is a centuries-old practice among the Bajun people of Kiwayu Island, located off the northern coast of Kenya. The remora, known as the "vampire fish" for its suction-cup head that attaches to larger marine animals, plays a crucial role in this unique fishing technique. As Ramadan begins, fishermen Alphan and Aruni prepare their traditional boats to navigate the coastal waters. Their survival hinges on successfully catching these elusive fish, highlighting the intersection of culture, tradition, and sustenance.
