Synopsis
In the late 1920s, the Slovo House in Kharkiv became a residence for prominent Ukrainian writers and artists, including Mykola Khvylovy and Ostap Vyshnya. Designed by architect Mykhailo Dashkevych, the building offered spacious apartments and communal amenities. However, it was also equipped with a surveillance system that monitored its residents. As the Soviet regime intensified its grip, many artists faced repression, with forty of the sixty-three apartments occupied by those arrested during Stalin's purges. The film details the tragic fate of these cultural figures against the backdrop of a once-promising sanctuary.
