Red Masisi

Synopsis

Sanba Yonel, a Haitian artist and activist, creates a tribute to the Lwa, the Vodou gods and goddesses that inspired a revolution in Haiti. The film addresses the term masisi, often used as a slur against men perceived as feminine, including gay men, transvestites, and non-binary individuals. Through his work, Yonel comments on the challenges faced by the masisi community, who often seek refuge within the religious practices of Vodou amid societal prejudice and hostility.
