Synopsis
Albert Venzago arrived in a remote village in Benin in 1988 after his Vespa broke down during a planned trip across Africa. There, he met Mahounon, a prominent voodoo priest. Over nearly ten years, Venzago filmed secret voodoo ceremonies and sacrificial rituals, gaining rare access to this spiritual world. He documented Mahounon’s search for a successor, focusing on an eleven-year-old boy named Gounon, who learned the practices of black and white magic and the workings of the Fa, the Voodoo oracle.
