Synopsis

Zhuoma, a 13-year-old girl in a remote Chinese village, faces the pressures of education and tradition. Two years after a chance meeting, the filmmaker returns to find her struggling with poor grades and the threat of an early marriage. While her family’s financial situation has improved with her mother and sister working, Zhuoma's future remains uncertain. She is determined to excel in her studies to avoid being confined to a traditional role as a housewife and mother.
