Synopsis

Ai Weiwei traveled to the Fukushima Nuclear Zone in August 2014 after receiving an invitation from the Japanese art coalition Chim↑Pom. He sent his assistant, Ma Yan, to investigate the exclusion zone. The findings from this site informed two projects, "A Ray of Hope" and "Family Album." These works reflect Ai's response to the aftermath of the nuclear disaster and the ongoing impact on the affected communities. The documentary runs for 31 minutes and was released in 2015.
