Feng Zhenghu arrived at Narita Airport in Tokyo on November 4, 2009, after being denied entry to China eight times that year. Shanghai authorities forcibly removed him from a flight and attempted to send him to Japan. Refusing to enter Japan, Feng chose to live in the Immigration Hall at Terminal 1 as a form of protest against his treatment.
