In Tyohemg, a village in Nanao Township, Yilan County, high-school student Yukan becomes intrigued by the story of Sayun, an Atayal girl who died while carrying a Japanese teacher's belongings at the end of World War II. With assistance from his grandfather, Chang Chin-chen, who knew Sayun, Yukan investigates her legacy.
