Finding Sayun is set in Nanao Township, Yilan County, where director Chen Chieh-yao returns to her ancestral village of Tyohemg. With the assistance of his grandfather, Chang Chin-chen, who attended school with Sayun, Yukan seeks to uncover the cultural significance of Sayun's legacy in the now-abandoned village.
