Air Chief Marshal Arthur Harris directed the Royal Air Force Bomber Command during World War II. From 1942 to 1945, over 50,000 Royal Canadian Air Force personnel served in No. 6 Group RCAF, flying night raids over enemy territory in heavy bombers like the Avro Lancaster. The shift from targeting military sites to area bombing of cities led to high casualty rates, including the firestorm in Hamburg that killed over 50,000 civilians. Survivors faced immense physical and mental strain, often reluctant to discuss their experiences. This documentary is part of the 1992 miniseries "The Valour and the Horror.
