Synopsis
Lars, a merchant from Gotland island, travels through the territories of the Curonians, Latgalians, and Semigallians in the 13th century. He documents their pagan rituals and the vibrant celebrations of the Summer Solstice. Lars faces danger as he is captured by the Couronians and becomes enslaved. “Baltic Tribes” combines historical reconstructions and animations to depict the struggles and traditions of the last pagans in Europe amid the rise of Christianity. The film premiered on October 21, 2018, at the Baltic Film Festival in the U.S.
