Synopsis

Daan van Citters and Joenoes Polnaija travel through Indonesia to retrace the paths of their grandfathers. These men fought for the Netherlands during the Indonesian War of Independence from 1945 to 1949. Daan's grandfather volunteered from the Netherlands. Joenoes's grandfather was a Moluccan soldier in the Royal Netherlands East Indies Army. As they visit various locations, they confront their family histories and the legacies of colonialism.
