Mark Peranson filmed Waiting for Sancho over five days in the Canary Islands, specifically Fuerteventura and Tenerife. The documentary acts as an experimental 'making of' for the film El cant dels ocells (Birdsong/Le chant des oiseaux). This film presents a new interpretation of the Biblical story of The Three Kings traveling to see the baby Jesus. Waiting for Sancho premiered at the Quinzaine des Realisateurs at Cannes in 2008.
