Synopsis
Joseph Smallwood, a former premier of Newfoundland, travels to Cuba with Canadian filmmakers Geoff Stirling and Michael Rubbo. They arrive with hopes of interviewing Fidel Castro, who has been in power for over a decade. The group stays at a former American textile tycoon’s residence while waiting for Castro to grant them an audience. Throughout their time in Cuba, they engage with locals and reflect on the political climate. "Waiting for Fidel" was released in 2011 and runs for 58 minutes.
