Lee Nan-young, a prominent singer known for "Tears in Mokpo," debuted at OK Records in the 1930s. After marrying composer Kim Hae-song, she gained fame with the KPK Musical Troupe in 1945. Following Kim's kidnapping by North Korea during the Korean War, Lee formed the Kim Sisters, Korea's first girl vocal group, with her daughters Suk-ja, Ae-ja, and niece Min-ja. The group found success at American military bases and became the first Asian act to perform in Las Vegas. Min-ja continues her singing career in Budapest.
