Try to Remember focuses on the life of Lee Nan-young, a prominent singer known for her hit 'Tears in Mokpo.' She debuted in the 1930s with OK Records and later married composer Kim Hae-song. The film details their rise to fame, particularly in 1945 when their duo gained popularity with the KPK Musical Troupe, before Kim was kidnapped by North Korea during the Korean War.
The documentary also shows Lee's creation of Korea's first girl vocal group, the 'Kim Sisters,' with her daughters and niece. It discusses their success at the American 8th Army base and their groundbreaking performances in Las Vegas as the first Asian group to do so. The film features Min-ja, one of the sisters, who continues her singing career in Budapest, Hungary, and includes memories of the sisters singing in English despite not knowing the language.
