Synopsis

Choreographer Allison Orr collaborates with employees of the Austin Department of Solid Waste Services over the course of a year to create a public dance performance. The project culminates in a rain-soaked event on the tarmac of an abandoned airport, featuring 24 performers and 16 trucks. An audience of over two thousand witnesses the transformation of everyday work into art. "Trash Dance" received local art and performance awards, recognizing the connection between community engagement and artistic expression.
