Synopsis

It costs just $2.50 to dump a tonne of toxic waste off the coast of Somalia, making it the world’s cheapest rubbish dump. This practice generates significant profit for certain westerners, who would otherwise pay $1,000 to dispose of their trash in their home countries. As a result, hundreds of Somalis suffer from illnesses caused by the toxic waste. Barrels of nuclear waste frequently wash up on the shores of Puntland, and the local beaches are often littered with dead fish. The documentary raises critical questions about who is responsible for dumping this waste in Somali waters and who in Somalia profits from this dangerous trade.
