Ten-year-old Tobias cuts cod tongues in northern Norway, a task traditionally assigned to children in the fishing industry. Surrounded by fishermen, he skillfully removes the tongues from cod heads, placing them on a nail for collection. This work, which starts as early as age six, provides children with a source of income during the winter months. Cod tongues are a delicacy, exported to markets in China and Japan, while remaining a staple in local diets when in season.
