Synopsis
Zelmar Michelini and Héctor Gutiérrez Ruiz, two Uruguayan lawmakers, sought a democratic resolution in a country under military rule. Both were active in a movement opposing the dictatorship. Alongside Rosario Barredo and William Whitelaw, members of the Tupamaros guerrilla, they were tortured and executed. Their deaths marked one of the first instances of the Condor Plan, a coordinated effort by South American dictatorships to eliminate political opponents. The events took place during the 1970s.
