Synopsis

In the streets of Uruguay, citizens voice their anger and pain over the 1986 amnesty law that protects those responsible for human rights abuses during the military dictatorship from 1973 to 1985. Families of the disappeared seek justice as a public initiative calls for a referendum to challenge the law. Director Kristina Konrad uses U-matic footage from interviews conducted between 1987 and 1989 to capture the sentiments of a society grappling with its past. The film presents a raw look at the struggle for accountability.
