Synopsis
Virgil Tanase and Paul Goma live in Paris as French citizens in 1982. Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu orders their assassination. Matei Haiducu, a Securitate agent known as Matthieu Forestier, learns of the plot. He informs the Direction de la Surveillance du Territoire (DST), the French secret service. This act of defiance complicates the assassination attempt and reflects the tensions between France and Romania during the Cold War. The events reveal the risks faced by those opposing authoritarian regimes.
