Synopsis

Benny Brunner directs The Seventh Million, a documentary based on Tom Segev's book. It addresses the response of Zionist leaders to the Holocaust during its occurrence. The film discusses the challenges faced by the new state of Israel in processing the trauma of the Holocaust. It also depicts the negative reception of Holocaust survivors in pre-Israel Palestine and the early years of Israel, where many were overlooked by a society focused on heroism and the ideal of a “new man.”
