Synopsis
Colonel Gail 'Hal' Halvorsen, known as the Candy Bomber, operated during the Berlin Airlift from 1948 to 1949. He delivered 23 tons of candy to children in post-war Berlin, beginning with just a few chocolate bars. Halvorsen's efforts brought joy to many young residents and symbolized American goodwill. His actions contributed to improving relations between former adversaries in the aftermath of World War II. Directed by Ken Verdoia, this 42-minute documentary recounts Halvorsen's humanitarian mission.
