One hundred years after the War of the Contestado, the Caboclo people continue to resist cultural erasure in Santa Catarina.
Synopsis
In the Plateau region of Santa Catarina, the Caboclo people continue to uphold their cultural traditions a century after the War of the Contestado, a conflict aimed at exterminating their population. The documentary presents their enduring faith and cultural practices, which remain largely absent from historical narratives. It reveals a story that is often condensed to a few paragraphs in textbooks, yet persists in the collective memory of the Caboclo community. The film runs for 82 minutes and was released in 2015.
