Synopsis
On January 19, 2010, Mahmoud al-Mabhouh, a co-founder of Hamas, was assassinated in Dubai. Chris Marker’s Stopover in Dubai reconstructs the events of that day using CCTV footage released by Dubai State Security. The film follows a team of 26 assassins as they navigate hotels and corridors leading up to the killing. Marker retains the original visuals but replaces the broadcast soundtrack with music by Henryk Górecki, performed by the Kronos Quartet. The documentary runs for 27 minutes.
