Synopsis

Mariam lives in Fana, a town near Mali's capital. At five, she suffered sexual abuse from a family acquaintance. By thirteen, her cousin raped her, followed by her brother-in-law at sixteen. Now in her twenties, Mariam uses dance as a means to confront and express her traumas. Directed by Aïssata Ouarma, Stay Up runs for 38 minutes and was released in 2021.
