Synopsis
Cynthia Paniagua, a modern dancer from Queens, takes lessons from folk dancer Nelida Silva. Both share a connection to the Andes. Nelida returns to her village in Peru to host The Patron Saint Festival in 2000. Cynthia travels with her to learn about her culture and heritage. The film follows their experiences over five years. Soy Andina premiered at the Film Society of Lincoln Center in September 2007 and screened at the Los Angeles Latino Film Festival.
