Synopsis
In April 1994, Rwanda became the site of a brutal genocide, resulting in the deaths of approximately one million Tutsi individuals. Sitting on a Volcano, the first volume in a three-part series, follows the mass exodus of Hutus fleeing to neighboring countries. One year after the violence, these refugees find themselves caught between Rwandan war criminals controlling the camps and a new government that shows little interest in reconciliation. The film critiques the international community for its inaction and complicity in ongoing human rights violations.
