Synopsis

Xie Jiakun and Liao Jinfeng, a scholar at the National Taiwan University of Arts, investigate the life and work of filmmaker Brodsky. The documentary features extensive clips from Brodsky’s well-preserved feature-length film, which is the earliest surviving footage of everyday life in China. Brodsky, a showman and businessman, recorded life with a focus on authenticity. He later moved to Japan, where he created Beautiful Japan, which included content on minority communities.
