Alex, a 25-year-old quadriplegic, trains for the 2004 Paralympic Games in Athens. Four years after a seaside accident, he swims daily under the guidance of his coach, Maria. As their training intensifies, Maria feels the pressure of competition while Alex remains focused and pragmatic. Surrounded by supportive family and friends, Alex aims for the medal everyone hopes he will win.
