Synopsis
Richard Williams began his ambitious project, The Thief and the Cobbler, in 1964, drawing inspiration from Middle Eastern folk tales. Over nearly three decades, he poured his resources into the film, assembling a skilled team and aiming for a level of animation that had never been seen before. After the success of Who Framed Roger Rabbit in 1988, Warner Bros. greenlit the project. However, on May 15, 1992, Williams and his team were dismissed, leading to a rushed release that strayed far from his original vision.
