Synopsis

In Israel, transgender migrant workers from the Philippines provide health care for elderly Orthodox Jewish men. These workers face societal rejection but find a sense of community and self-expression through drag performances during their free time. Directed by Tomer Heymann, Paper Dolls captures their struggles for acceptance and identity in a foreign land. The film presents their stories against the backdrop of cultural differences, revealing the challenges faced by marginalized groups in pursuit of belonging.
