Synopsis
Bemz Benedito, leader of the Philippines' first LGBT political party, aims to become the first transgender woman elected to Congress in a predominantly Catholic nation. Facing opposition from a homophobic evangelical preacher, Bemz and her diverse team of queer activists employ unconventional campaign strategies, engaging working-class trans hairdressers and beauty queens in their fight for representation. Set against the backdrop of the 2019 Philippine elections, "Out Run" highlights the struggles for dignity and acceptance faced by LGBT individuals as they seek to challenge societal norms and political barriers.
