Synopsis
Liu Jiayin and her parents gather around their kitchen table in Beijing for an evening of cooking and conversation. They prepare shǔi jiǎo, or soup dumplings, while discussing their daily lives. The film unfolds in real time within the confines of their apartment, using nine static shots that shift perspective around the table. Each take lasts between five and 20 minutes. Oxhide II premiered at the Cannes Film Festival on May 21, 2009, and was also featured at several international film festivals that year.
