Okpik's Dream

Synopsis

Harry Okpik stands in the snowy expanse of Nunavik, preparing for the Ivakkak sled dog race. As a child in Quaqtaq, he witnessed the government-sanctioned slaughter of Inuit sled dogs, an event that marked his youth and dreams. Now, decades later, he trains his huskies and reflects on the loss of his leg from a hunting accident. The 600 km race represents more than competition; it aims to revive the nearly extinct Inuit husky and reconnect with a traditional way of life.
