Synopsis

Camp Pathfinder, a summer camp on a small island in the Canadian wilderness, has welcomed boys for over a century. In 2017, its director decided to invite refugees from Syria and Iraq to join the camp, responding to the ongoing humanitarian crisis. Directed by Barbara Kopple, New Homeland follows these boys as they navigate their new environment. The film captures their experiences of forming friendships while grappling with the memories of war and the challenges of starting anew.
