Danny, Alex, Mickerson, and Michael navigate life in Montréal-Nord, a neighborhood marked by economic challenges. Over 18 months, they turn to hip hop music as a means to express their struggles and aspirations. With guidance from their mentor Don Karnage, the young men confront personal demons while striving for a better future. Directed by Magnus Isacsson, My Real Life premiered at the 2012 Montreal International Documentary Festival, where it won the Grand Prize for Best National Feature.
