Papa Francisco, on behalf of the Pope, supports the best-equipped hospital ship in the Brazilian Amazon. This ship serves over 1000 communities along the Amazon River, providing essential medical aid to areas that have never received it before. Many river-dwellers face significant challenges, often traveling a whole day by boat to reach the nearest doctor or hospital, where they may wait days for treatment. With this initiative, up to 700,000 people will gain access to vital healthcare services, addressing the enormous demand for medical assistance in this remote region.
