Synopsis
Phelokazi Ndlwana, an aspiring chef from Khayelitsha Township, South Africa, was murdered in 2021 after resisting her rapist. Her death marked another instance of escalating homophobic violence in the country. Funeka Soldaat and the activist group Free Gender took legal action against the police, citing incompetence and corruption in handling Phelokazi's case. Directors Ndodana-Breen and Greyson created an operatic cine-poem inspired by her story, featuring mezzo-soprano Chantelle Grant. The film runs for six minutes.
